NORMAL, Ill. -- The harsh winter continued to wreak havoc on Bradley's home-opening series when extreme cold first limited the scheduled 3-game weekend series versus Northern Illinois to a Saturday night doubleheader, then a single game during the pregame lineup exchange and finally a suspended game.

With wind chills dipping into the teens, the umpires met with the two coaches after the sixth inning and determined they would suspend play after the seventh. The teams will resume the game April 16 when Northern Illinois is scheduled to return for another game at Dozer Park in Peoria.

The game will resume with Bradley leading, 5-1. Freshman third baseman Spencer Gaa is 1-for-2 with a triple, two walks, a stolen base and two runs scored.

Junior lefthander David Koll will be in position to earn the win after allowing only one unearned run and just a sixth-inning single in his 6.0 innings of work. Koll walked three and struck out seven before giving way to Peter Resnick to start the seventh.

Bradley, which remains 11-3, is scheduled to return to action Tuesday with a "home" game at The Corn Crib against Illinois-Springfield. The start time, either noon or 6 p.m., will be announced Monday.
