PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley women's golf team will get its final swings in before hosting the Missouri Valley Conference Championship later this month, traveling to Terre Haute, Ind., for the Indiana State Spring Invitational Sunday and Monday.
After facing six other Missouri Valley Conference foes at last week's Bradley Invitational, Bradley will face many of the same teams at the Indiana State Spring Invite, which opens Sunday with a single round of play at noon (CDT). Joining the Braves in the field are Valley rivals Drake, Evansville, tournament-host Indiana State, Loyola and Northern Iowa.
The tournament field also includes in-state foes Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville in addition to William Woods. The two-day tournament, which is being held at the par-71 Country Club of Terre Haute, concludes Monday with a single round of play starting at 8 a.m. (CDT).
Sophomore Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) is coming off her best showing of the year, tying for 17th at the Bradley Invitational to pace the Braves in their annual home tournament. Roadley shot 157 for the 36-hole tournament for her first top-20 finish of the season.
Fellow sophomore Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) rebounded from a first-round 82 at the Bradley Invitational to card the low round of the tournament for the Braves with a four-over par 76 and tied for 20th in the field. Lemek had a streak of eight consecutive top-10 finishes snapped, but has placed in the top 20 in each of the last 12 tournaments dating back to last March.
Sophomore Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) finished the Bradley Invite strong, firing a final round 78 and owns a 78.73 stroke average this spring. She is second on the team with 17 rounds in the 70's and needs four sub-80 rounds to push her season total among the top 10 in school history.
Freshman Paige Jordan (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) has posted an 81.78 stroke average in her last nine rounds, while junior Katarina Mangieri (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) matched a career-best (78) in the opening round of the Bradley Invitational and her average over the last three rounds is better than three strokes lower than her season average.
After Monday's final round of the Indiana State Invitational, Bradley will host the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Ill., April 20-22.
