PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley added an accomplished perimeter shooter to its 2014 recruiting class Wednesday with the announcement that junior college guard Kendahl Amerson of Utah State University-College of Eastern Utah returned his signed National Letter of Intent to attend Bradley University and play basketball for the Braves during the 2014-15 season.

PRONUNCIATION: First name just like Kendal, last name with a long A (A-mer-son)

"We are excited to add Kendahl to the program,” said Bradley head coach Geno Ford. “He is a legitimate deep threat at all times who can play multiple positions. He will bring added toughness and scoring to our team as we play more up tempo this season.”

Originally from Detroit, Mich. (Henry Ford H.S.), Amerson was a first-team NJCAA All-Region 18 selection after averaging 17.5 points per game for USU-CEU this past season. He made 81-of-205 (.395) of his 3-point field goal attempts and the 6-foot-3 guard shot an even 50 percent (100-200) from inside the arc. He complimented his scoring by averaging 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

As a freshman at South Plains (Texas) College, Amerson averaged 9.6 ppg while sinking 49-of-148 (.331) of his 3-point field goal attempts. In his two junior college seasons, Amerson averaged 2.4 3-point field goals per game and played for teams that combined for a 43-18 (.705) cumulative record.

The Braves signed two recruits during November's early-signing period - junior college point guard Tramique Sutherland and high school forward Donte Thomas – and the Braves have three remaining scholarships available for the 2014-15 season following Amerson's signing Wednesday.

A 5-foot-11 point guard from Hill (Texas) College, Sutherland was named an honorable mention NJCAA Division I All-American last week after averaging 19.3 points, 8.2 assists, 7.6 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. He ranked second nationally in both assists (264) and steals (96) and eighth with a 3.8 assists-to-turnover ratio while leading Hill College to the NJCAA Division I national tournament.
