PEORIA, Ill. - Southern Illinois opened the final weekend of the regular season with a 7-0 Missouri Valley Conference women's tennis dual match win at Bradley (4-15, 0-5 MVC) Friday afternoon at the David Markin Tennis Courts.
The Salukis (15-7, 4-1 MVC) stayed in the league title race by winning 15 of the 16 sets. Bradley's best chance at a point came at No. 2 singles, where freshman Ariel Dechter won her opening set against Anita Lee, 7-5, but after winning the second set, 6-4, Lee outlasted Dechter in the final set, 15-13.
Bradley will close out the regular season Saturday by hosting Evansville (7-12, 1-4 MVC) in a 1 p.m. match at the David Markin Tennis Courts. Saturday's regular-season finale will be the final home match for Bradley seniors Adele Henke, Meredith McDonagh and Sarah Rodefeld.
