Box Score PEORIA, Ill. - Spencer Gaa went 4-for-5 and tied the Bradley single-game record with three doubles, but Illinois-Chicago (19-19) got a pair of 4-hit performances of their own en route to a 9-5 non-conference baseball win against the host Braves (21-20) Wednesday night at Dozer Park.
UIC catcher Alex Jurich was 4-for-4 with two doubles and Conor Philbin was 4-for-5 with three RBI's and a pair of great catches in right field to pace the visitors' effort. UIC first baseman Jeff Boehm needed just two at-bats to become just the second player to hit two home runs in a college game at Dozer Park. Ironically, former Bradley catcher Dan Puente first pulled off the double homer game at Dozer Park againast UIC April 7, 2004.
Boehm hit a 2-run home run to deep right center field in the first inning, then added a solo blast to left field in the third inning to put the Flames in front for good, 3-2.
The Braves needed just five outs before they had hit for the cycle as a team - Max Murphy homered to lead off the bottom of the first, Chris Godinez followed Greg Partyka's 2-out single with a RBI triple in the first and Gaa hit the first of his three doubles with two outs in the second.
Bradley finished the game with 12 hits, but after scoring two in the first, managed just single runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings.
The Braves will return to action this weekend with a three-game series at Wichita State, starting with a 6:30 p.m. contest Friday at Eck Stadium.
