WICHITA, Kan. - Two Wichita State pitchers combined for a 3-hit shutout and the Shockers (24-32, 8-6 MVC) broke the game open with a 6-run seventh inning on the way to a 7-0 win against Bradley Saturday afternoon at Eck Stadium.

Bradley right-hander Steve Adkins (1-2) suffered the tough-luck loss, despite allowing only one run on four hits in his 5.0 innings of work. Casey Gillaspie gave the Shockers the only offense they needed by his 11th home run of the season in the first inning. He added his 12th homer of the year in the seventh inning, a 2-run shot that capped Wichita State's 6-run outburst.

Cale Elam (6-1) allowed only two hits in 8.0 innings of scoreless work to start the game. Reagan Biechler worked around a Spencer Gaa double in the ninth to close out the shutout.

The teams will conclude their 3-game weekend series with a 1 p.m. game at Eck Stadium.
