Box Score

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State scored six unanswered runs to rally for an 8-4 win against visiting Bradley Sunday afternoon at Eck Stadium.

Bradley twice took 2-run leads, only to see the Shockers rally. Greg Partyka homered leading off the second inning for the game's first run and after consecutive hits by Tyler Leffler and Evan Gruener, the Braves took a 2-0 lead on Drew Carlile's RBI ground out.

The Shockers got a sacrifice fly and RBI double in the home half of the second to pull even, but the Braves has an immediate answer in the third, thanks to Evan Gruener's 2-run home run.

Bradley managed to put only two more runners into scoring position the rest of the game, however, and the Shockers steadily pulled away by scoring twice in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. After tying the game in the fifth on a Parker 2-run homer, Wichita State's final four runs all were unearned, courtesy of three Bradley errors.

Bradley outhit the host Shockers, 10-7, as Spencer Gaa (2-for-5), Partyka (2-4), Leffler (2-4) and Gruener (2-4) all collected two hits.

Reeling from a season-long, 7-game losing streak, Bradley (21-23, 4-14 MVC) will close the season with four straight home games around final exams. The Braves will host Robert Morris (Springfield) Tuesday night at Dozer Park, then will have the weekend off, before closing out the regular-season May 15-17 with a 3-game Valley series against Indiana State.
