PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley received double-doubles from freshmen Taylor Thiele (Aurora, Neb./Aurora) and Afton Sobasky (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran), but the Braves couldn't overcome 12 aces and 16 blocks by UMKC as the Kangaroos won 25-13, 25-17, 24-26, 25-19 Saturday afternoon at the CEFCU Classic.

Thiele finished with 12 kills and 11 digs to help pace the Braves, while Sobasky added 32 assists, one ace, 10 digs and a pair of blocks in the setback.  Junior Lea Sack (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) tallied a team-high 16 digs to lead four Bradley players in double figures.

UMKC (6-3 overall) limited Bradley (0-9 overall) to an .077 attack percentage in the match to go along with 15 blocks and 65 digs.

A pair of aces in the first set highlighted a 9-1 UMKC run to give the Kangaroos a 16-7 advantage.  UMKC went on to cruise to a 25-13 opening-set victory with Taryn Miller collecting 13 of her match-high 31 digs in the opening frame.

Bradley hit .370 as a team in the second set, but UMKC countered with an impressive .500 attack percentage of its own.  The Kangaroos, who had three aces in each of the first two sets, tallied 16 kills on just 26 attacks in a 25-17 win to take a two-sets-to-none lead.

Defense dominated the third set with the teams combining for 14 blocks and both squads owning negative hitting percentages.  Despite UMKC notching nine blocks in the third frame and the Braves hitting -.075 in the stanza, Bradley was able to push the match to a fourth set with a 26-24 win.  The Braves held set point at 24-20, before UMKC rallied to pull even at 24-24.  Freshman Jamie Livaudais (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) gave BU a 25-24 lead with a kill and closed out the Bradley win (26-24) with her sixth kill of the afternoon.

In the fourth set, the Braves trailed by as many as seven before pulling within two points at 19-17.  UMKC still held a two-point edge at 21-19 after a Livaudais kill, but the Kangaroos finished off the match with a 4-0 spurt.  Melissa Hartsel had a block to start the run and followed a UMKC ace and Bradley error with a kill to seal the 25-19 win for the Kangaroos.

Thiele has reached double figures in kills in seven of nine matches and paced Bradley with 12 kills.  Livaudais added nine kills and senior Madison Kamp (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) chipped in with eight kills to help lead the Braves offensively.
