Box Score CARBONDALE, Ill. - Anthony Beane scored a game-high 16 points and host Southern Illinois (9-11, 2-5 MVC) rode a 22-4 second-half run to a 70-59 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball victory Wednesday night at SIU Arena.
Bradley (6-14, 1-6 MVC), which earned a 63-44 win against the Salukis Jan. 3 at Carver Arena, remained winless in 10 games away from home this season.
Bradley took a 43-39 lead on a Ka'Darryl Bell 3-pointer with 15:00 remaining, then went ice cold. The Braves were 15-of-29 from the field after Bell's trey, but were just 2 for their next 15 as the Salukis pulled away.
After the Salukis failed to have a player score in double figures in the season's first meeting, Bradley did not see a player reach double digits until Bell made two free throws with 3:22 remaining for his ninth and 10th points. Tramique Sutherland led the Braves with 13 points, while freshman forward Josh Cunningham added 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Tyler Smithpeters chipped in 12 points for the Salukis.
The Braves will open a 2-game home stand Saturday by hosting Missouri State for Bradley University Alumni Night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Carver Arena.
