PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore forward Whitney Tinjum (Stacy, Minn./Chisago Lakes/Washington State) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after averaging 20.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in three outings last week.
Tinjum scored a career-high 28 points and collected nine rebounds along with two steals against Northern Illinois while going 14-for-14 from the free throw line against the Huskies in the final non-conference game of the year. She followed it up with 13 points, six boards and one steal in the MVC opener against Northern Iowa. Tinjum capped the week with team highs of 20 points and eight rebounds against Drake as she finished the week 27-of-29 from the charity stripe. An advertising major, Tinjum owns a 3.41 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Tinjum and the Bradley women's basketball team return to action Friday, opening a two-game road swing with a 6 p.m. (CST) at Indiana State.
