SPRINGFIELD, IL - Three Bradley singles players and one doubles team have advanced into the semifinals of the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Individual Championships after the first day of play at the Velasco Tennis Center.
The tandem of Ariel Dechter and Irinka Toidze earned Bradley's first win of the day by breezing to an 8-0 victory against Evansville's Helpingstine/Mendes in Flight 3 Doubles. The Braves pairing will face the top-seeded squad from Wichita State, Quan/Schlotterback, in Saturday's semifinal round.
Each of Bradley's three singles wins Friday came in the opening round of the bottom three flights. Sophomore Aimee Manfredo cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win against Evansville's Kennedy Craig in Flight 5 Singles, freshman Malini Wijesinghe rolled to a similar 6-1, 6-2 win against UNI's Savanna Hunt in Flight 6 Singles and junior Ashley Thai earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory against Missouri State's Abbey Belote in Flight 7 Singles. All three Bradley players will play semifinal matches Saturday.
