Box Score PEORIA, IL - Ben White had a goal and an assist, leading Gonzaga (5-4-1) to a 2-0 road win at Bradley (4-6-0) Friday night at Shea Stadium.
After Bradley started the year with four consecutive 1-0 wins at home, the Bulldogs handed the Braves their second straight home loss and became the first visitor to score multiple goals at Shea Stadium this season.
While the teams spent the first 30 minutes of the first half feeling each other out, Gonzaga began applying more consistent pressure in the later stages of the first half. The persistence paid off in the 41st minute when the Bulldogs worked the ball across the attacking third from the right flank. White collected the ball left of center at the top of the 18 and cracked a shot into the upper right corner of the net for his third tally of the year at 40:41.
The Bulldogs stretched their advantage to 2-0 in the 70th minute when White combined with Jake Kempf to free Christo Michaelson beyond the far post. Michaelson collected from about 10 yards out and finished for his second goal of the year at 69:56.
Although Gonzaga finished the night with a 22-12 advantage in shots, the Braves had their chances, including one breakaway situation in the first half when Bulldogs keeper Chris Lowrimore was caught well off his line. Grant Bell was unable to take advantage before the Gonzaga defense recovered.
After wrapping up its second 3-game home stand of the season, Bradley will play three of its next four games on the road, beginning with a Monday afternoon (4 p.m.) visit to local rival Western Illinois.
