PEORIA, Ill. -- Freshman Erica Haslag (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias Catholic) had 22 kills to lead a balanced Bradley attack which featured four players in double figures in kills as the Braves pulled out a five-set victory against visiting Evansville 24-26, 25-16, 22-25, 25-23, 15-13 Friday at Renaissance Coliseum.

Haslag had 22 kills, 11 digs and two aces for her second double-double in as many home matches and junior Kelsey Cave (Solon, Iowa/Solon) added a career-best 15 kills to help lead a Bradley offense which had four players in double figures in kills for the first time this season.  Freshman Allison Turner (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) tallied 14 kills of her own and senior Cordelia Murphy (Marseilles, Ill./Marquette) finished with 11 kills and a team-best five blocks.

The first set featured nine lead changes and 17 ties before Evansville (8-17 overall, 2-9 MVC) pulled out a 26-24 win.  Bradley (6-17 overall, 1-10 MVC) held off set point at 24-23 with a block, but the Purple Aces answered with back-to-back kills to take the opener.  Haslag had seven of her 22 kills in the first set.

The Braves jumped out to a 10-4 advantage early in the second set and never looked back extending the lead to as many as 13 points at 20-7.  Turner had six kills to help Bradley build its 13-point advantage and later closed out a 25-16 victory   with her seventh kill of the frame.  Bradley hit .344 as a team in the second.

Bradley led by as many as six points early in the third set and held a 17-12 advantage after a block by Murphy and sophomore Afton Sobasky (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) block, before Evansville rallied.  A block by Cave and Turner pulled the Braves even with the Purple Aces at 22-22.  Genesis Miranda broke the tie, however, with her sixth kill of the set and an Evansville block and Bradley attack error gave the Purple Aces a 25-22 win.

In the fourth, Evansville led by as many as five points (12-7) before the Braves were able to claw back into the contest.  Haslag sparked a 6-0 Bradley run with consecutive kills to help give her squad a 13-12 lead.  The Braves led 22-21 when Sobasky notched consecutive kills of her own to give Bradley set point at 24-21.  Evansville answered with back-to-back points of its own, however, when Haslag capped a 25-23 win for the Braves with her fifth kill of the set as Bradley forced a deciding fifth set.

Turner had consecutive kills early in the fifth set to help Bradley jump out to a 4-0 advantage.  The Purple Aces chipped away at Bradley's lead, pulling within one at 13-12 on back-to-back kills by Miranda.  Sophomore Jamie Livaudais (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) set up match point for the Braves at 14-12 with a kill and Murphy followed Miranda's 23rd kill of the match with a kill of her own as Bradley took the set 15-13 to improve to 4-1 this fall in five-set matches.

Bradley had four players reach double figures in kills for the first time since the final match of the 2014 season, led by Haslag's 22 kills.  Haslag is now the fourth Bradley freshman and first since 2008 with 200 kills, 20 aces, 100 digs and 35 or more blocks in their first season on The Hilltop.

Sobasky had a career-high 64 assists and 11 digs to go with three blocks and three kills.  Her 64 assists are the most by a Bradley setter since the introduction of the 25-point format in 2008 and most by a Brave since Ashley Vance had 65 assists against Drake on Oct. 16, 2004.

In addition to the offensive production, senior Lea Sack (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) collected a career-best 32 digs for her school-record fourth career outing with 30 or more digs.  Sack's 32 digs rank as the eighth-best match total in program history.

Bradley closes out a two-match home stand Saturday with a 7 p.m. match against Southern Illinois.  Saturday's match will feature free candy for children in attendance and a costume contest with the winner receiving a gift certificate for a free pizza from Papa John's.
