CHARLESTON, SC - Donte Thomas turned in his first career double-double by scoring a career-best 14 points and pulling down a career-high 10 rebounds, but Towson (2-3) held on for a 62-60 win against Bradley (1-4) in the seventh-place game at the 2015 Gildan Charleston Classic Sunday afternoon at TD Arena.

Byron Hawkins scored a game-high 24 points, including Towson's only two 3-pointers on consecutive possessions midway through the second half to temporarily halt a Bradley rally. The Braves trailed by as many as 16 points with 18:08 remaining, but Bradley steadily chipped away at the deficit and twice pulled to within two points.

Two Thomas free throes with 4:35 remaining closed the gap to 53-51, but Towson used layups by John Davis with 4:20 left and Hawkins with 2:25 remaining to push its lead back to six, 57-51. Hawkins made 5-of-6 free throw attempts in the final 31 seconds to hold off the Braves.

Thomas was one of three Braves to score in double-figures. Luuk van Bree and Callum Barker each finished with 10 points. Davis scored 14 points for Towson.

After playing its last four games away from home, including two against teams that won at least 30 games last season and are ranked among the top 12 in the national polls, Bradley returns home for its next two games. The Braves will welcome New Orleans (1-2) to Carver Arena for a 7 p.m. (CST) tip Wednesday and another Charleston Classic participant, Ole Miss, for a 1 o'clock clash Saturday afternoon.
