NORMAL, Ill. – Freshman Allison Turner (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) attacked at a .474 clip and had a team-high 12 kills, but Bradley couldn't overcome 11 aces and a .295 hitting percentage by I-74 rival Illinois State as the Redbirds topped the Braves 25-13, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19 Friday at Redbird Arena.

Turner's .474 hitting percentage was the best of the year for the Braves and she was one of four Bradley hitters with nine or more kills in the setback.  Junior Kelsey Cave (Solon, Iowa/Solon), freshman Erica Haslag (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias Catholic) and sophomore Jamie Livaudais (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) each added nine kills of their own to pace the Braves' offense.

In the first set, Bradley pulled within four points at 11-7 on one of Livaudais' four opening set kills; but Illinois State answered with five consecutive points to open a 9-1 run which pushed the Redbirds lead to 20-9.  ISU hit .429 in the first set and took the opener 25-13.

The Braves had three aces early in the second set, including a pair of junior Kayla Rymer (New Berlin, Wis./Catholic Memorial), and Livaudais had three kills during an opening stretch which saw Bradley jump out to a 15-9 advantage.  Illinois State's Jaelyn Keene served up three straight aces, however, and had four aces during a 12-0 ISU run which put the Redbirds in front 21-15.  Cave had a kill and two blocks to help Bradley pull within two at 24-22, but Keene put the finishing touches on a 25-22 Illinois State win with a kill.

Bradley hit at a .533 clip in the third set and forced a fourth set with a 25-21 victory.  With the score knotted at 11-11, Turner had two kills and a block during a 6-1 run which put the Braves ahead 17-12.  Turner added two more kills down the stretch as the Braves and closed out the Bradley win with her 10th kill of the night.

Illinois State jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the fourth set and stretched the advantage out to as many as seven.  The Redbirds held Bradley to seven kills in the fourth and ISU won the frame 25-19 to take the match in four.

Haslag became the ninth Bradley freshman with 250 or more kills with her nine-kill effort Friday.  Senior Lea Sack (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) led Bradley's defensive efforts with nine digs as she pushed her season total dig total to 431 which is now eighth among school season marks.

Aly Dawson paced Illinois State with 15 kills, while Ashley Rosch added 13 kills of her own.  Keene joined the pair in double figures with 11 kills and also collected six of the 11 Redbird aces.

Bradley closes out a two-match road swing Saturday with a 6 p.m. (CST) match at Indiana State, which will be available on ESPN3.
