PEORIA, IL - Luuk van Bree turned in his first career double-double by scoring a career-best 19 points and snaring a career-best 11 rebounds, but visiting TCU (7-4) took advantage of 40 free throw attempts to pull out a 53-49 decision against host Bradley (2-11) Wednesday night at Carver Arena.

The Horned Frogs overcame 29.8 percent (14-47) shooting from the field and a 4-for-17 (.235) effort from 3-point range with its volume of of free throw attempts. Despite shooting just 52.5 percent from the free throw line, TCU benefitted from a 37-19 disparity in personal fouls to outscore its host by nine at the charity stripe. The Horned Frogs converted 21-of-40 free throw attempts, compared to 12-of-17 (.706) by Bradley.

Reserve guard Chauncey Collins was the primary benefactor, sinking 9-of-14 free throw attempts en route to a team-best 14 points. Collins also led the Horned Frogs with eight rebounds and three steals. Vlad Brodziansky and Michael Williams eached chipped in 10 points for TCU.

In addition to van Bree's effort, reserve swingman Ronnie Suggs scored 12 points for Bradley, including a 3-pointer with four seconds remaining to pull the Braves within 51-49. Collins was fouled with 1.4 seconds left and sank both free throw attempts to secure the win.

Bradley started quickly as three players - Antoine Pittman, Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye and van Bree - combined to make their first four field goal attempts on the way to a 9-5 lead with 16:25 left in the first half. Van Bree scored nine of Bradley's first 13 points and gave the Braves a 13-9 lead with 10:40 left on a putback basket, but the Braves missed eight of their final 10 field goal attempts of the half as TCU built a 30-21 lead at the break.

The Horned Frogs led by as many as 11 points in the second half, 32-21 on a Brodziansky tip-in with 17:34 left, and still led by 10, 43-33, with 5:58 remaining. Van Bree scored seven points during a 9-2 Bradley surge that cut the deficit to 34-30 with 14:34 left. The Braves held TCU to just one point for a span of 8-minutes, 26-seconds, but suffered through their own cold spell and could not pull any closer.

Bradley had nine opportunities to slice the deficit to one possession, but went 0-for-6 from the field with three turnovers, before TCU finally broke through and stretched its lead back to eight, 38-30, on a Collins 3-pointer with 8:21 left.

Despite facing a nine-point gap, 48-39, following a Brodziansky free throw with 1:42 left, the Braves kept battling. A Pittman 3-point play with 1:00 remaining made it 48-42 and a Suggs jumper with 24 seconds left again got the Braves to within six, 50-44. Lautier-Ogunleye made it 51-46 with 15 seconds left and after Brandon Parrish missed two free throws wtih 11 seconds remaining, Suggs buried a wing 3-pointer to make it 51-49.

Having already played two of last season's 10 30-win clubs during the non-conference season - Arizona and Virginia - Bradley will open its Missouri Valley Conference schedule against two more teams in the 2014-15 30-wins club. The Braves will visit Northern Iowa (7 p.m.) Dec. 30, before returning home to host Wichita State Jan. 3 (1 p.m.). Both games will be shown on ESPN3.
