CHICAGO, Ill. – Sophomore Anneke Schlueter (Ulm, Germany/Max-Weber-Schule) made 4-of-7 three-pointers and finished with 14 points, while junior Leti Lerma (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) turned in her second straight double-double as the pair helped lead Bradley to a 66-60 victory at Chicago State Wednesday.

Bradley (3-3 overall) got off to a slow start, trailing Chicago State 19-16 at the end of the first quarter and the Cougars held a 23-16 advantage in the opening moments of the second quarter.  Schlueter scored eight points and grabbed four boards to help key a 16-4 Braves run as Bradley went on to take a 32-29 lead into the half.

Lerma scored the first four points of the third quarter and a Danielle Brewer (Coatesville, Ind.) three-pointer nearing the six-minute mark of the third pushed the Bradley edge to 39-29.  The Braves held Chicago State (1-6 overall) to six points during the 12-minute stretch.

The Cougars rallied in the fourth, however, cutting what was an 11-point Bradley lead (50-39) following a Tamya Sims (Milwaukee, Wis./Oak Creek) layup with 9:49 to play to just two points closing in on seven minutes left on the clock.

Chicago State had tied it up at 53-53 with five minutes remaining when Brewer was fouled shooting a three and made all three free throws to break the tie.  The Braves stretched the lead to 61-55 lead after jumpers by Shareece Burrell (Des Moines, Iowa/East) and Lerma closing in on two minutes left.

A three-point play by Chicago State's Kaylee Allen just inside of two minutes made it a one-possession, but a Kat Yelle (Geneva, Ill./Geneva/Ohio) three-pointer from the corner to beat the shot clock gave the Braves a 64-58 edge with 90 seconds to play.

Chicago State's Layne Murphy made a layup on the next trip down the floor for the Cougars, pulling her squad within four (64-60) with just over one minute on the clock.  Neither team made a basket in the final 60 seconds, however, and a pair of Burrell free throws in the final seconds were the only points in the last minute as Bradley closed out the 66-60 road win.

The Braves won back-to-back non-conference games for the first time since opening the 2013-14 season with consecutive victories and Bradley matched its road win total from 2014-15 with Wednesday's decision.

Schlueter led Bradley with 14 points and also collected six rounds in the 23 minutes of action.  Lerma was 5-for-7 from the field and tallied 12 points and 12 boards for her fourth career double-double.  Burrell added a career-best 10 points off the bench and freshman Gabby Green (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) dished out a season-best six assists to help pace the Braves.  Bradley outrebounded Chicago State 40-22 and held an 11-5 edge in second chance points.

Allen, who missed the last three games with an injury, led Chicago State with 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting off the bench as she paced three Cougars in double figures.

Bradley opens a two-game home stand Saturday with a 1 p.m. matchup against Illinois-Chicago at Renaissance Coliseum.
