Box Score PEORIA, IL - Corey Baldwin came off the bench to lead all scorers with a career-best 20 points and Quinton Hooker scored 10 of his 18 points in overtime, leading North Dakota to a 65-59 win in double overtime Saturday night at Bradley.
Freshman guard Antoine Pittman led the Braves (1-8) with 14 points in his first career double-digit scoring game, while sophomore forward Donte Thomas turned in his third double-double in five games with 12 points and a career-best 13 rebounds. Freshman center Callum Barker added 12 points for the Braves.
Consecutive 3-pointers from Luuk van Bree and Pittman pushed Bradley's lead to 41-31 with 8:07 remaining, but the Braves managed only two more field goals the rest of regulation. North Dakota capped a 16-3 run on a Baldwin bucket in the paint for a 47-44 lead with 2:21 remaining. Bradley pulled even on a Pittman free throw with 2:09 left and a Thomas jumper with 1:18 remaining to force overtime.
The teams each scored only two points in the first overtime session. The Braves were 1-for-4 from the field, while North Dakota was 0-for-3 from the floor, but 2-for-3 from the free throw line.
Conner Avants opened the scoring in the second overtime with an interior bucket with 4:19 left and the Fighting Hawks never relinquished the lead, eventually pushing the advantage to nine, 63-54, on a Baldwin dunk with 1:01 remaining.
Bradley returns to action Tuesday when the Braves visit UT-Arlington for a 7 p.m. game in Texas before taking an 8-day break from the game schedule for Fall semester final exams.
