GULF SHORES, Ala. – Bradley collected 10 hits and scored seven runs, but five errors helped lead to five unearned runs as Eastern Kentucky topped the Braves 12-7 at the Sand Dollar Classic Sunday morning.

Freshman Erika Hansen (Fillmore, Calif./Moorpark) hit her first career home run to reach base safely for the 10th consecutive game and fellow freshman Maria Schroeder (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) had a 3-for-4 outing with three RBI as she was one of three Braves to have multi-hit games.  Sophomore Kelly Kapp (Freeburg, Ill./Gilbault Catholic) scored three of Bradley's seven runs in a 2-for-5 effort at the plate.

Bradley jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, pushing three runs across in the first.  Kapp led off the game with a single and the Braves had the bases loaded for junior Kathryn Spenn (Williamsville, Ill./Williamsville) who drove in two runs with a single to center.  Hansen, who is tied with Spenn with a team-best 14 RBI, plated a run on a groundout to put the Braves in front 3-0, but Bradley ended up leaving the bases loaded.

Three Bradley errors in the bottom of the first helped lead to a five-run frame for Eastern Kentucky.  All five runs were unearned for the Colonels.

Senior Brittany Burgess (Utica, Ill./St. Bede) was hit by a pitch after An EKU error to open the top of the second and Schroeder drove in a run with a single to left to cut the Eastern Kentucky lead to 5-4.  The Braves, who left 10 runners on base in the game, had the bases loaded with one out; but couldn't push another run across in the second.

Shannon McQueen ripped a three-run homer in the bottom of the second to give Eastern Kentucky an 8-4 advantage.

The Braves had runners at first and second with one out in the third when Schroeder drove in her second run of the game with a single left to cut the EKU lead to 8-5.  Bradley left another two runners on base in the inning, however, and stranded five runners in scoring position in the first three innings.

Eastern Kentucky struck for two more runs in the bottom of the third, pushing the advantage to 10-5, with both runs crossing on a Krislyn Campos single.

Schroeder had a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth to score freshman Elizabeth Leonard (Olathe, Kan./Olathe East) and Hansen led off the Bradley half of the sixth with a solo homer as the Braves pulled with three runs at 10-7.

The Colonels had a sacrifice fly of their own in the bottom of the sixth and a solo homer off the bat of Paige Murphy pushed the deficit back to five runs (12-7).  Eastern Kentucky pitcher Shaylon Robb retired Bradley in order in the top of the seventh to close out the contest.

Sophomore Jaelen Hull (Clifton, Ill./Bishop McNamara) took the loss in the circle for the Braves.

Bradley closes out play at the Sand Dollar Classic this afternoon with a 12:30 p.m. rematch with Belmont.
