SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Freshman Aimee Manfredo rallied for a 3-set win at No. 3 singles, securing the deciding point in Bradley's first Missouri Valley Conference women's tennis win in exactly seven years, a 4-3 victory Saturday afternoon at Missouri State.

The Braves (10-9, 1-2 MVC) had suffered 49 consecutive Valley dual match defeats since a 5-2 win versus Creighton April 11, 2008 in Peoria. Bradley had not won a Valley road match since a 4-3 win against the Bluejays April 8, 2006 in Omaha.

Bradley's chance to snap the streak did not look good after the host Bears won the first three singles decisions to take a 3-1 lead in the match. The Braves started the day by winning the doubles point, thanks to an 8-1 victory by Alexa Brandt and Ashley Thai at No. 1 doubles and an 8-5 victory by Ariel Dechter and Manfredo in the No. 2 spot.

The Bears earned their first point by default. Still recovering from a torn ACL suffered in the first meet of the fall, senior Carly Miles received medical clearance to play doubles, but was unable to compete at No. 6 singles. Missouri State moved to within one point of clinching the team victory when Miranda Poile and Anelisse Torrico won straight-sets decisions at Nos. 5 and 4 singles, respectively.

Dropping down to No. 2 singles for the first time this year, Brandt turned the momentum with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and Dechter quickly followed with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles to pull the Braves even, 3-3.

Manfredo suffered a 6-3 loss in her first set at No. 3 singles and faced a 3-2 deficit in the second set, before rallying for a 6-4 win to force a match-deciding third set. The freshman pulled through with a 6-4 win to secure the team victory.

The Braves will have little time to celebrate the end of their Valley skid, returning to action Sunday morining at #32 Wichita State (17-3, 4-0 MVC), which has not dropped a point in its four Valley matches this season.
