PEORIA, Ill. -- Patrick Sullivan is the newest addition to the Bradley volleyball program, with head coach Jenny Maurer's announcement Friday that he has been named assistant coach.
No stranger to the Missouri Valley Conference, Sullivan served as a volunteer assistant coach at Northern Iowa for the 2012 season and helped the Panthers to a second-place league finish in addition to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
“We are excited to add someone with Patrick's playing and coaching experience to our program,” stated Maurer. “His technical knowledge of the game along with his familiarity of the conference due to his time helping frequent NCAA Tournament qualifier Northern Iowa made him an obvious choice to round out our staff and help Bradley volleyball reach new heights. He has been a great fit with our team already and we look forward to him playing a key role in our future success.”
A part of Long Beach State's 1991 NCAA national championship team, Sullivan boasts over 25 years of playing and coaching experience. Since 2009, he has served as the director and head coach for STEALTH Volleyball club team he helped found in Boise, Idaho. In this role, he has helped develop several individuals who have played at the NCAA Division I & II levels.
Prior to founding STEALTH Volleyball, Sullivan also had coaching stints with the USA National Development Camp and the Golden West Junior College men's team, where he was co-head coach. In addition to college coaching stops that included Vanguard University, American River Junior College and El Camino Junior College, he also coached at the high school level at Bullard High School in Fresno, Calif.
Sullivan helped Long Beach State to a pair of NCAA Men's Volleyball Final Four appearances during his collegiate career in addition to a pair of WIVA conference championships and a 108-24 (.818) combined record.
After earning his degree in communicative disorders from Long Beach State in 1992, Sullivan started his coaching career as an assistant coach with the 49ers. In addition to his coaching duties, Sullivan also served as the Director of Marketing for Volleyball and Student Services at Long Beach along with being part of the television and radio broadcast crew for 49er volleyball matches.
