BURLINGTON, Iowa – Freshman Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) is tied for 12th after shooting a 4-over 76 and the Bradley women's golf team is eighth in the team standings after one round of play at the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship Sunday.

The Braves are just five shots out of the top five and 11 back of the top three in the field after Sunday's opening round at the par-72 Spirit Hollow Golf Course.

Scaccia is the leader in the clubhouse for Bradley, firing a 4-over 76 in the first round; four behind individual leader Alejandra Arellano of Wichita State, who carded a 72 on the first day to help the defending champion Shockers finish the day atop the team leaderboard at 301.  Sunday's 76 was Scaccia's 19th sub-80 round of the season and she will enter Monday's second round with a chance to become the fourth Bradley freshman along with the 10th individual in program history to fire 20 sub-80 rounds in a season.

Junior Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) is tied for 27th after a first round 79, while fellow junior Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) shot an 80 to end the day tied for 29th.  Lemek had a school record streak of 31 consecutive sub-80 rounds, which dated back to April 6, 2014, snapped with her opening-round 80.

Freshman Grace Henderson (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Blessed Trinity) matched Lemek's first-round 80 and is tied for 29th in the field.  Junior Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) rounded out the team scoring for Bradley with an 84 and is tied for 44th overall.

Wichita State has a one-shot lead on second-place Southern Illinois at 301, with the Salukis close behind at 301.  Loyola is three shots off the pace in third at 304 and Evansville is seven shots back in fourth (308).  Missouri State finished the day in fifth at 310 to edge sixth-place Drake (312) by two shots.  Indiana State is two shots ahead of the Braves in seventh (313).  Bradley (315) closed the day three shots ahead of I-74 rival Illinois State, which is ninth at 318.  Northern Iowa completes the field in 10th at 326.

The second round of the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship is scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m. Monday morning at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa.  Live scoring for all three rounds of the MVC Championship is available at http://www.golfstatresults.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=teamPlayer&tid=7793
