PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore pitcher Matt Dennis (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after earning Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honors earlier this week.

Dennis saved all four of Bradley's wins last week, setting the program record for single-season saves in the process. In his four appearances, Dennis totaled 5.1 shutout innings by allowing only four hits and a walk while striking out seven. His efforts closed the door on a 5-4 win against #14 Iowa Tuesday, a 12-11 victory Wednesday at Northern Illinois, Saturday's 4-2 win against Wichita State and Sunday's 3-2 series-clinching win against the Shockers.  A psychology major, Dennis owns a 3.28 cumulative grade point average. 
 
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Dennis and the Bradley baseball team continue a seven-game home stand Wednesday night with a 6 p.m. game against Western Illinois at Dozer Park.
