PEORIA, Ill. -- Three Bradley errors helped led to five unearned runs as Indiana State scored eight unanswered runs to rally from a 6-1 deficit and avoid the series sweep with a 9-6 victory Sunday afternoon at Laura Bradley Park.  The loss ended a six-game Bradley win streak and wrapped up a season-long, 10-game home stand for the Braves.

After clubbing five home runs in Saturday's doubleheader of Indiana State, Bradley jumped all over Sycamore starter Taylor Lockwood early by plating four runs in the first inning.

Sophomore Kelly Kapp (Freeburg, Ill./Gibault Catholic) led off the bottom of the first with a single and stole second before scoring on an Elizabeth Leonard (Olathe, Kan./Olathe East) double.  Back-to-back hit batters loaded the bases and senior Shannon King (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) plated a run with a single to center.  Senior Lexi Cremeens (Dix, Ill./Mount Vernon) drove in a run with a check-swing infield single and fellow senior Brittany Burgess (Utica, Ill./St. Bede) gave the Braves a 4-0 lead when she drew a two-out, bases loaded walk.

Indiana State had a leadoff walk to open the second and Mallory Schneid was later able to score after a passed ball and a Bradley error on a sacrifice bunt to cut the Bradley advantage to 4-1.  The Sycamores, who left a total of six runners on base in the first three innings, left the bases loaded in the second.

Freshman Erika Hansen (Fillmore, Calif./Moorpark) belted her team-best fourth homer of the year with one out in the second and King had a solo shot of her own to left center two batters later to extend the lead to 6-1.

Bradley had six runs on six hits in the first two frames, but collected just four hits in the final five innings and didn't advance a runner past second after King's second inning homer.

A hit batter and Alexa Cavin triple in the fifth led to an Indiana State run and the Sycamores used a five-run sixth to take a 7-6 lead.  Indiana State had a runner at second with two outs in the sixth when Erika Crissman ripped a RBI double to right center.  Aubre Carpenter followed with a run-scoring double of her own just inside the third base bag.  Bradley's second error of the game on what would have been a groundout to end the inning allowed another run to cross and Cavin belted her second triple of the day to score two more runs as the Sycamores went in front 7-6.

The Braves couldn't take advantage of a Kendall Duffy (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) single to open the sixth and Indiana State added two insurance runs in the seventh.  A Bradley error to lead off the Indiana State half of the seventh was followed by a RBI single by Kelsey Montgomery for the first run of the frame.  Montgomery later scored on a double to left center off the bat of Crissman to push the Sycamore lead to 9-6.

Hansen tried to spark a Bradley rally in the bottom of the seventh, leading off the inning with her conference-leading 15th double of the year.  Abby Klopp retired the next three batters she faced, however, to close out the victory for Indiana State.  Klopp (2-1) gave up two hits in three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Senior Alyson Spinas-Valainis (Davenport, Iowa/Assumption) took the loss in the circle for Bradley, giving up five hits and seven runs (three earned) in 5.2 innings of work to fall to 6-12.

Bradley will open a five-game road swing Saturday with a noon doubleheader at Northern Iowa as part of a three-game series with the Panthers in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
