COLUMBIA, Mo. – Junior Rosie Hiles (Hampshire, England/Alton College/University of Birmingham) won the 5,000 meter title in her debut in the event to highlight action for the Bradley men's and women's track & field teams at the Tom Botts Invitational Friday night.
Hiles won the 5,000 meters by nearly a full minute as she became the sixth individual in program history to break 17 minutes. Her time of 16:56.06 ranks sixth among Bradley career marks and is the fourth best time on the squad this season.
Freshman Lauren Cunningham (Bayside, Wis./Nicolet) was second in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 17:47.14, while junior Kylie McKinney (Petersburg, Ill./PORTA) clocked a career-best time of 18:19.93 to finish ninth.
In the men's steeplechase, sophomore Steffen Uhrich (Wauwatosa, Wis./East) finished third with a career-best time of 9:30.91 to improve his career-best time by almost one-and-a-half seconds.
Sophomore Caleb Beck (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) was third in the men's 5,000 meters, posting a time of 14:39.53 to pace four Braves in the event. Freshman Taylor Floyd Mews (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) was strong in the first 5,000 meters of his career as he finished sixth at 14:53.05.
Sophomore Casey Kramer (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) turned in a season-best effort in the women's 1,500 meters to finish seventh at 4:39.47. Fellow sophomore Katie Wampole (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) was close behind in 10th with a career-best time of 4:41.05.
The Bradley men's and women's track & field teams are in action Saturday at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, Calif., in addition to the Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill.
