CHICAGO - Sophomore Aimee Manfredo cruised past freshman teammate Malini Wijesinghe in straight sets to win the singles White Flight championship, highlighting the final day of play at Chicago State's Cougar Invitational Sunday.
The Braves finished the 5-team tournament with two flight championships as the tandem of Ariel Dechter/Irinka Toidze completed the weekend with a 3-0 record in the doubles White Flight. The Bradley duo won the flight championship Sunday with a 6-3 victory against the Bowling Green tandem of Radeva/Witt.
Overall, the Braves combined for a 7-8 record in Sunday's six flights of final matches, though two of the losses came to teammates. The doubles team of Alejandra de Lasa/Ashley Thai won the 7th-place match in the doubles Green Flight with a 6-4 victory against Oakland's duo of Artamonova/Bocuti.
In addition to Manfredo's singles White Flight championship, Decther won the Green Flight 3rd-place match by breezing by freshman teammate Emma Sodergren 6-1, 6-0. Brandt won the Green Flight 7th-place match with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Oakland's Daria Artamonova. Freshman Julie Martin won the Black Flight 7th-place match with a 6-3, 6-2 win against Chicago State's Leshia Gadacz.
During the opening tournament of the fall season, Bradley's 10 players combined for a 16-13 singles record and 6-8 doubles mark.
