Box Score PEORIA, Ill. -- Loyola served up eight aces and held Bradley to a .106 hitting percentage as the Ramblers topped the Braves 25-16, 25-15, 25-18 Thursday at Renaissance Coliseum in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both squads.
The victory extended Loyola's win streak to 11 matches as the Ramblers improved to a conference-best 12-2 (1-0 MVC) on the season. Freshman Allison Turner (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) led Bradley (5-8 overall, 0-1 MVC) with six kills, while fellow freshman Abby Ihrke (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie added a team-best 10 digs in the setback for the Braves.
Loyola scored the first five points of the match and jumped out to an early 8-2 advantage in the first set. Bradley pulled within four at 17-13 on a block by the freshman combo of Erica Haslag (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias Catholic) and Raegen Jackson (Arvada, Colo./Lakewood). The Ramblers answered with three consecutive points, however, and went on to take the opening frame 25-16.
An 8-2 Loyola spurt midway through the second gave the Ramblers control of a set which was tied at 8-8. Morgan Reardon had four of her match-high 11 kills in the second set and also added two aces as she helped Loyola hit .360 in the stanza. The Ramblers held Bradley to an .043 hitting percentage in the frame and had a two-sets-to-none lead after a 25-15 victory.
Bradley led 9-7 in the third set when a 5-0 Loyola run put the Ramblers on top 12-9. Loyola held a one-point lead at 14-13 when a Reardon kill made it a two-point advantage for the Ramblers. With the Braves trailing 18-15 after Turner's third kill of the set, Loyola went on another 5-0 spurt capped by a Maddy Moser ace to build a 23-15 advantage. The Ramblers went on to take the third set 25-18 and complete the sweep.
Turner was the only Bradley player to collect more than five kills, finishing the night with six kills and .312 hitting percentage. Ihrke had 10 digs, while Jackson added a team-best five blocks to help highlight the defensive efforts for the Braves.
Reardon had five kills and eight digs in the final set as she collected 11 kills, 13 digs and two aces to help power Loyola to the win. Gabi Maciagowski tallied 10 kills for the Ramblers.
Bradley closes out a season-long, five-match home stand Tuesday with a 5 p.m. contest against Northern Iowa at Renaissance Coliseum.
