PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore Natalie Burant (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) finished second to help the Bradley women's cross country team top Illinois State in a dual at the Bradley Invitational Friday afternoon, while a handful of men's runners competed in the second of two home meets for the Braves.
Burant clocked a time of 19:46.2 to finish second in the 5K Friday in Bradley's first home meet at Donovan Park. Unattached runner Bailey Johnson claimed top individual honors at 19:19.8. A pair of Braves were on Burant's heals with freshman Sara Piller (Normal, Ill./Normal West) taking third at 19:48.0 and sophomore Hannah Witczak (Chicago, Ill./Ressurection) finishing fourth overall at 19:54.3.
Sophomore Nicole Alfano (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) followed a trio of Illinois State runners in eighth at 20:21.4, while junior Nicole Lopez-Villegas (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) completed the scoring for Bradley in 10th at 20:37.1 as the Braves topped the Redbirds 21-36 in the dual scoring.
An unattached runner also claimed the men's individual title with former Bradley standout Eric Delvo taking top honors in the men's 8K with a time of 25:52.4. Freshman Will Anderson (Avon, Ind./Avon) and senior Cole Dill (Tremont, Ill./Tremont) were the only entries for the Bradley men's team. Anderson crossed the line at 27:11.7 to take 13th, while Dill was 15th overall at 27:43.2.
The Bradley men's and women's cross country teams are back in action next Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational.
