PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior women's tennis player Ashley Thai (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after her performance at last week's Bradley Invitational.
Thai and sophomore Alejandra de Lasa combined to win the Flight B Doubles title, going a perfect 4-0 on the weekend. She also advanced to the Flight B consolation title match, where she fell to teammate Emma Sodergren. Thai went 2-2 in singles action, rebounding from an opening round loss to claim her next two singles matchups. A chemistry major, Thai owns a 3.70 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Thai and the Bradley women's tennis team will host the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championship Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Velasco Tennis Center in Springfield, Ill.
