Rachel Jones Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Redshirt junior middle blocker Rachel Jones (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Bradley Volleyball team to a four-set victory over Indiana State Saturday.

Jones collected a season-high 12 kills and hit .500 in the victory against the Sycamores in addition to collecting a season-best four blocks. The 12 kills were the most for Jones since tallying a career-best 23 kills against Indiana State in the first home match of her career in 2013. In four career outings against the Sycamores, Jones has averaged 3.00 kills per set with a .473 attack percentage. She also had three kills in Friday's match against Illinois State. A community wellness major, Jones owns a 3.07 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Jones and the Bradley Volleyball team are back in action Friday, heading to Evansville, Ind., for a 7 p.m. match at Evansville.
