PEORIA, IL - Bradley juniors Clark Emerson (Grand Prairie, TX/Mansfield Lake Ridge HS) and Jacob Taylor (Dunlap, IL/Dunlap HS) both are under consideration for College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America honors after being selected to the Academic All-District 5 team Thursday.

Emerson is a repeat selection for the CoSIDA Academic All-District 5 squad, making him the fifth player in Bradley Soccer history to earn the distinction twice in his career (Dan Thorstenson, Chris Dunsheath, Todd Reedy and Bobby Smith).  A finance major boasting a perfect 4.0 grade point average, Emerson plays primarily as a defensive midfielder and he is tied for third on the team this season with three points on a goal and an assist.  In addition to his CoSIDA honors, Emerson was a 2015 first-team Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete and he earned the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award in 2016, his first year of eligibility.

Taylor is Bradley's active leader with 53 career starts and the defender is the only Brave who has not come off the field at any point this season, playing all 1617-minutes, 12-seconds of game action to date.  He currenlty leads the team with two assists and is second with four points from his defensive position.  A mechanical engineering major who boasts a 3.78 cumulative GPA, Taylor was an honorable mention selection for the 2015 MVC Scholar-Athlete Team and he also earned the 2016 MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award.

CoSIDA's Academic All-America program began in 1952 and currently sponsors programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country, as well as student-athletes who compete in other sports through the At-Large program.  Among the criteria for nomination, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.  CoSIDA's District 5 includes institutions from the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

Bradley is one of four schools to place two student-athletes on the 13-player men's soccer Academic All-District 5 squad this fall, joining Akron, Bowling Green and Michigan State.  The Braves now have placed multiple players on the Academic All-District 5 team for the third time in program history and for the first time in consecutive years.
