PEORIA, Ill. – Junior outside hitter Taylor Thiele (Aurora, Neb./Aurora) has been named one of 10 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor Award Fall recipients according to a recent announcement by the league office.

A chemistry major with a 3.24 cumulative grade point average, Thiele is fourth on the team with a 2.12 digs-per-set average this season and has collected 2.00 digs per set in MVC play.  She is the team's active career digs leader with 583 in her near three years on The Hilltop and is 17 digs from becoming the 42nd player in program history to reach 600.

Thiele has earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll following all four of her semesters and was named to the MVC Honor Roll last year.  She was selected as one of Bradley's Outstanding First-Year Students as a freshman.

A two-year representative to Bradley's Student-Athlete Advisory Council, she also serves as the Bradley Athletics representative on Bradley's Student Advisory Committee.

Her community service activities include volunteering at Unity-Point Methodist Hospital along with visiting patients at the OSF Children's Hospital and she took part in the United Saints Recovery Project, which assisted rebuilding flooded homes in Louisiana.  Thiele has also helped with Special Olympics and events at the Boys & Girls Club.

As part of her work with the Bradley Student-Athlete Advisory Council she has helped organize the annual Megan Fong Blood & Bone Marrow Drive.  She has also mentored area children at both Sterling Middle School and Glen Oak Elementary.  On campus, she has volunteered at Late Night BU events in addition to taking notes for the Bradley University Center for Learning Assistance.

In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and participate in a sport, during the season of recognition.  The Valley will recognize 10 student-athletes three times annually (fall, winter, spring), for a total of 30 honorees.

Thiele and the Bradley Volleyball team return to action Friday, taking on Drake in a 5 p.m. contest in Des Moines, Iowa.
