Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
The Bradley men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2016-17 season as a slow start led to a 63-49 setback to Delaware at Carver Arena on Sunday afternoon. The Braves are now 1-1 on the season, while the Blue Hens remain perfect at 2-0.

Junior forward Alex Foster led the Braves with a career-best 12 points, connecting on 5-of-6 shots from the field. Freshman Darrell Brown and junior JoJo McGlaston also scored in double-figures, contributing 11 and 10 points, respectively.

A cold start from the field allowed Delaware to take early control of the contest. Foster's layup with 14:23 remaining ended the drought but by that time, the Blue Hens had already built a 9-1 advantage. Overall, Bradley connected on just 20 percent of its shots (5-of-25) in the first half and missed all 12 of its 3-point attempts at Delaware entered the intermission with a 34-15 advantage.

The Braves put together a better second-half performance but couldn't overcome the early hole. Bradley more than doubled its output in the second 20 minutes of play, scoring 34 points and outscoring the Blue Hens by five, but each time the Braves attempted to cut the gap, Delaware halted the team's momentum. Bradley pulled to within 14 on multiple occasions but were unable to get any closer as Delaware held on for the 63-49 victory.

Bradley shot 44 percent from the field in the second half (11-of-25) to finish the game with a 32.0 percent clip. Delaware connected on 44.2 percent of its shots with Anthony Mosley leading the team with 16 points.

The Braves look to return to their winning ways next Friday as the team wraps up its three-game homestand to begin the season with Southeast Missouri State. First tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Carver Arena.

Game Notes: Foster's previous career high was nine points while a member of the Texas Tech program (vs. UTSA on Nov. 29, 2013) … The road team won for the first time in three meetings between the two schools … Bradley opponents are connecting on just 18.8 percent of their 3-point attempts in two games this season (6-of-32) after Delaware was 3-of-15 on Sunday … The Braves have won the turnover battle in each of their two games season after doing so only four times in 32 contests last season.
