Luuk van Bree Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore forward Luuk van Bree (Venray, Netherlands/Canarias Basketball Academy) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after averaging 12.0 points per game in a pair of contests last week.

Van Bree shot 64.3 percent from the field (9-for-14) and he made 5-of-8 three-point attempts in the two outings in addition to collecting four rebounds, two assists one steal for the week. After scoring nine points in midweek action at Ball State, van Bree scored a season-best 15 points in an 83-48 victory over Chicago State Saturday. He made 6-of-9 shots against the Cougars, including 3-of-5 attempts from beyond the arc. An international studies major, van Bree owns a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Van Bree and the Bradley men's basketball team are back in action Friday, hosting UT-Arlington in a 7 p.m. game at Carver Arena.
