Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
MUNCIE, IN -- The Bradley men's basketball team suffered an 80-63 defeat at Ball State on Tuesday night. The Braves lost in back-to-back games for the first time this season and fall to 4-5 overall, while the Cardinals moved to 5-4 with the victory.

Three Braves led the team with nine points on the night – sophomores Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye and Luuk van Bree plus freshman Darrell Brown. Lautier-Ogunleye also registered a team-best five assists with freshman Koch Bar (Abyei, South Sudan) collecting five rebounds.

The teams traded three-point baskets to start the game but the Braves quickly found themselves in a 12-5 hole after a 9-2 Ball State run. Bradley pulled to as close at three points, 18-15, but another 7-0 spurt by the Cardinals put the team ahead by 10 en route to a double-digit halftime lead, 34-23.

In the second half, Brown hit a pair of 3-pointers early to pull Bradley within seven, 36-29, a little more than two minutes into the stanza. However, every time the Braves attempted a comeback, Ball State seemingly always had the answer on the other end. The Cardinals then used a 10-1 run with a 49-42 advantage to turn a seven-point edge into a 16-point lead, securing the 80-63 victory.

Bradley shot 42.9 percent from the floor in the loss, making 7-of-17 3-point attempts. Ball State, however, converted 58.0 percent of its shots with a 9-of-18 mark beyond the 3-point line.

Trey Webster led the Cardinals with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Bradley is back in action on Saturday with a home contest against Chicago State. First tip at Carver Arena is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Game Notes: The Braves were attempting to win their first two road games of the season for the first time since the 1985-86 season … Freshman Jayden Hodgson earned his first career start … The home team has won all four games in the series.
