Junior Michael Ward of the men's cross country team is the Bradley Athlete of the Month for November, announced on Wednesday.

In November, Ward became the first Brave in school history to compete at the NCAA Division I Men's Championship, where he placed 71st in the country (of 251 runners). The junior earned his invitation after finishing ninth at the NCAA Midwest Regional. He posted the best individual result in the program's history to earn All-Midwest Region honors, while also leading Bradley to a fifth-place finish as a team – the school's best result by four places. At regionals, Ward also broke his own 10K school record by running in a time of 30:33.7.

November capped a historic season for Ward and the Braves. Bradley won its second-straight Missouri Valley Conference Championship in 2016 with Ward placing second overall at the meet – the highest finish by a Brave in 51 years. Bradley also received votes in the USTFCCCA national poll for the first time in program history.

Ward earned the Bradley Athlete of the Month accolades after a fan vote on the school's twitter account. Ward collected 39 percent of the vote to top Leti Lerma of the women's basketball team (31 percent) and Darrell Brown of the men's basketball team (30 percent).
