Bradley 4, at Sam Houston State 3
HUNTSVILLE, TX - Sophomore Aimee Manfredo won the deciding point by pulling out a 3-set victory at No. 5 singles, lifting Bradley (9-8) to a 4-3 win against host Sam Houston State (5-6) Friday at McAdams Center.
Although Manfredo teamed with Ariel Dechter for a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, Sam Houston State won the other two doubles matches to earn the day's first point. The Bearkats pushed their lead to 2-0 with a straight-sets win at No. 3 singles, but Bradley ran off three straight points with wins by Dechter at No. 1 singles, Alejandra de Lasa at No. 2 and Malini Wijesinghe at No. 6.
Sam Houston State pulled even, 3-3, when Mila Milanovic outlasted Ashley Thai for a 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles, leaving the team decision to Manfredo and Maddie Mortimore in the No. 5 slot. Manfredo rallied from a 4-6 loss in the first set, winning the final two sets by 6-4 and 6-2 scores.
After winning the final two dual matches of its spring break trip to the Houston area, Bradley will be off for two weeks before opening its Missouri Valley Conference schedule April 2 at Illinois State.
