NORMAL, Ill. – Senior Lyle Burns (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour/Parkland) and freshman Drake Bushong (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) tied for medalist honors at the I-74 Individual Challenge to highlight Saturday's competition for the Bradley men's golf team.
Burns and Bushong both matched par with 71's at the par-71 Weibring Golf Club Saturday to tie IUPUI's Michael Johnson for the top spot in the 21-person field. Bushong fired his 22nd consecutive sub-80 round and earned medalist honors for the third time this season.
The 71 matched the low round of the spring for Burns, who shot his 20th sub-80 round of the year and finished in the top-10 of a tournament for the fourth time 2015-16.
Junior Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) tied his season-best with a one-over 72 to tie for fourth in the field, while sophomore Matthew Specht (Munster, Ind./Munster) also tied his low round of the year with a two-over 73 to tie for seventh. Senior Garrett Cox (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) also helped highlight Saturday's action for Bradley with a three-over 74 for his lowest round of the spring season and tied for ninth overall.
The Bradley men's golf team returns to action next Saturday and Sunday at the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
