PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley men's golf team returns to a course which has been kind to the Braves over the last two years, taking part in the 44th annual Beu/Mussatto Invitational in Macomb, Ill., Friday and Saturday in the team's final tournament before the Missouri Valley Conference Championship later this month.

Bradley finished second at last year's Beu/Mussatto Invite after winning the team title at the event in 2014.  The par-72 Harry Mussatto Golf Course has been a frequent stop for the Braves with Bradley playing the Beu/Mussatto Invitational for the 13th time in the last 15 years and playing a spring tournament at Western Illinois for the 35th time in 43 seasons.

Friday's 36 holes are slated to get underway with an 8 a.m. shotgun start and Saturday's final round will also tee off at 8 a.m.  BradleyBraves.com will provide links to live scoring throughout the 54-hole tournament.

Tournament-host Western Illinois is one of three in-state NCAA Division I teams joining Bradley in the 11-team field, which also includes Eastern Illinois and Chicago State.  The Braves are coming off their first team tournament title of 2015-16, after finishing ahead of both Western Illinois and Chicago State at the Bradley Invitational earlier this week.

Senior Lyle Burns (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour/Parkland) has won medalist honors in three consecutive tournaments and has eight consecutive rounds of 75 or better, averaging 71.88 per round during that span.  Burns tied for sixth at last year's Beu/Mussatto Invitational at 223 (74-73-76) and enters the weekend with 54 career sub-80 rounds.  He looks to join Seth Trolia (2011-15) and Dave Wettlaufer (1981-85) as the only players in program history to shoot 57 sub-80 rounds in a two-year period.

Freshman Drake Bushong (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) has run his streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 27 and needs one more score in the 70's or better to push his streak into the top five in school history.  Bushong also has a chance to become just the fourth player in school history with 30 or more sub-80 rounds in a season and would join a list which includes Trolia (2014-15), Steve Douse (1985-86) and Andy Mickelson (2002-03).

Senior Garrett Cox (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Bradley Invitational and is familiar with the Harry Mussatto Golf Course, having played in the Beu/Mussatto Invite both his freshman and junior seasons.  His lowest career round entering this season (71) came as a freshman in the second round of the 2013 Beu/Mussatto Invite and he tied for 13th at last year's event.

Sophomore Matthew Specht (Munster, Ind./Munster) and junior Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) both have experience playing in Macomb, Ill., as well and will help fill out the Bradley lineup.  Specht finished 51st last year at the Beu/Mussatto Invite and Jacobs has played in the tournament as an individual each of his first two seasons.

After the annual trip to Macomb, Ill., the Bradley men's golf team will play in the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Championship April 25 & 26 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
