PEORIA, IL - Taking advantage of gale-force winds, Bradley banged out a season-high 20 hits and matched the Dozer Park record with seven doubles en route to a 17-1 win against Illinois College Saturday afternoon.

Junior 3B Spencer Gaa matched the individual school record with three doubles and the Braves legged out seven two-baggers, the fourth time a team has recorded seven doubles at Dozer Park since the venue began hosting college baseball in 2003. Gaa, who also equalled the fourth-best single-game RBI total with six runs batted in, recorded three doubles for the second time in his career and the 21st time overall by a Bradley player.

Fittingly, the Braves took the lead in the first inning on consecutive 2-out doubles by SS Tyler Leffler and 1B Paul Solka. Gaa then provided what proved to be the deciding runs with a 2-out, 2-run double in the second, benefitting from a high pop over second base that blew over the second baseman's head into shallow right center field.

Although a sunny day, the game was played in a stiff wind blowing across the outfield from left-to-right with gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour. The Bradley Invitational women's golf tournament at nearby WearverRidge Golf Course was suspended midway through the first round due to the high winds and tree damage on the course, while power also was knocked out in central Peoria.

In addition to Gaa, 1B Paul Solka continued to swing a hot bat for the Braves, finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI's.

In another staff outing by Bradley pitchers, senior LHP Cameron Roegner (W 2-3) earned Saturday's win in an abbreviated start. Roegner worked only 3.0 innings as the starter, allowing the one run on four hits with five strikeouts. A quartet of freshmen hurlers each worked an inning of scoreless relief, allowing only one hit among them and combining for six strikeouts.

Bradley will return to action Wednesday when the Braves host Western Illinois in a 6 p.m. game at Dozer Park that will be televised as part of The Valley on ESPN3 package.

NOTES: After reaching base safely in all five plate appearances Friday night, Bradley SS Tyler Leffler was 2-for-2 and hit by a pitch before his streak of reaching base safely was snapped with a fourth-inning sacrifice fly ... Leffler's first-inning double was the 48th of his career, moving him into a tie for sixth on Bradley's all-time list ... Leffler also was plunked for the 47th time in his career, second-most in Bradley history and now within 10 of Matt Fritz's school record, and his 14th career sacrifice flies are third-most in program history, just two shy of Ryan Sullivan's school record.
