CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior Chase Coffey (Hanna City, Ill./Farmington) ran in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for the first time in 2016 and clocked a career-best time to finish sixth in the event, highlighting Friday night's action for the Bradley men's track & field team at the Virginia Challenge.

Coffey was one of three Bradley men in the steeplechase Friday at the Virginia Challenge and paced the group with a sixth-place finish.  His career-best time of 8:50.73 improved his 2014 career-best time by almost two-and-a-half seconds and was three-tenths of a second off the school record.  In addition, Coffey's effort ranks second in the MVC this spring.

Senior Eric Delvo (Springfield, Ill./Sacred Heart Griffin) is the school record holder in the steeplechase and took 16th in the event Friday with a season-best performance of 9:00.23 as he took over two-and-a-half seconds off his best effort of the year.

Sophomore Haran Dunderdale (Grantham, England/Carres) was right behind Delvo, crossing the line at 9:05.16 to finish 17th in the 31-person field.

The Bradley men's and women's track & field teams will continue competition at the Virginia Challenge Saturday in addition to taking part in the Illinois Twilight in Champaign, Ill.
