PEORIA, Ill. -- For the third consecutive year, the Bradley women's golf team will play its final tournament before the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Terre Haute, Ind., taking part in the Indiana State Spring Invitational Sunday and Monday.
The Braves are coming off back-to-back wins after claiming top honors at the Cardinal Challenge in Houston, Texas, back on March 16 along with the team title at last week's Bradley Invitational at WeaverRidge Golf Club.
The first round of the Indiana State Spring Invitational will get underway Sunday at 9 a.m. (CDT) at the par-72 Country Club of Terre Haute and Monday's final round is slated to tee off at 8:30 a.m. (CDT).
After facing five Missouri Valley Conference teams in the 13-team field at last weekend's Bradley Invitational, the Braves will square off again with Valley rivals Drake, Evansville, Indiana State, Loyola and Northern Iowa. In-state foes Chicago State, Eastern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville and Western Illinois are also scheduled to play in the 14-team tournament which includes Butler, Dayton, Oakland and William Woods.
Sophomore Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) was Bradley's top finisher at last year's Indiana State Spring Invitational, finishing one shot behind the medalist in a tie for second at 149 (74-75) for her best finish of her freshman season as she helped the Braves to a third-place showing in 2015. Scaccia has two top-10 finishes this season and her 76.85 season stroke average is 12th in the MVC.
Senior Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) won the 2014 Indiana State Invitational medalist title as a sophomore and has finished in the top five in each of her two previous trips to Terre Haute, Ind. Lemek's 146 as a sophomore is the lowest 36-hole score in tournament history and she owns a 74.5 career average at the Country Club of Terre Haute. She won medalist honors at last week's Bradley Invitational for her 10th career victory and her 74.14 season stroke average would rank third in MVC history.
Fellow senior Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) placed second at the Bradley Invitational to earn her fourth top-10 finish of the season. Roadley tied for 15th last year at Indiana State and owns a 75.00 stroke average this spring after averaging more than 79 per round during an injury-filled fall.
Sophomore Grace Henderson (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Blessed Trinity) is also coming off her best finish of the season, earning the first top-10 showing of her career. Henderson tied for eighth at the Bradley Invite and her spring average (78.08) is almost two strokes better than her average from the fall season.
The Bradley women's golf team will take part in the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Championship April 17-19 at Harborside International Golf Center in Chicago, Ill.
