Bell, Shaw Named to NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, MO – Former Bradley Basketball players Ka'Darryl Bell (Chicago/Oak Park-River Forest H.S.) and Mike Shaw (Chicago/De La Salle H.S.) both were named to the NABC Honors Court Tuesday in recognition of their success in the classroom while with the Braves, according to an announcement from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

In order to qualify for the NABC Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic critera, including:
  1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
  2. Cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better at the conclusion of the 2015-16 academic year.
  3. Must have matriculated at least one year at the current institution.
  4. Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.

Bell graduated in May with his bachelor's degree in communications (sports communication), boasting a 3.24 cumulative GPA.  A two-time honorable mention Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete, Bell earned a spot on the MVC Honor Roll in 2015 and the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll in four semesters.

Shaw graduated in December with his degree in Family and Consumer Science, boasting a 3.22 cumulative GPA.  A transfer from Illinois who was unable to play in his final season due to chronic back pain, Shaw earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll during the 2015 Fall semester.

The Braves tandem are two of five players in the Missouri Valley Conference named to the Honors Court and Bradley joins Drake as the only Valley schools with multiple honorees.

Led by the team's two lone seniors, Bradley Basketball placed 13 of its 14 players on the Bradley AD Honor Roll at least once during the 2015-16 school year and the Braves finished the 2016 Spring semester with a program record 3.18 cumulative team GPA.
