KANSAS CITY, MO – Boasting a program record 3.18 cumulative team grade point average through the end of the 2016 Spring semester, Bradley Basketball Wednesday was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) with a fourth annual Team Academic Excellence Award.

The Team Academic Excellence Award was created by the NABC Committee on Academics to recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better at the conclusion of each school year.  The only Missouri Valley Conference squad honored with the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award this year, Bradley placed 13 of its 14 players on the school's Athletic Director Honor Roll for either the 2015 Fall or 2016 Spring semester in recognition of posting a minimum 3.0 GPA for the grading period.

In addition to being the lone MVC team honored, Bradley is one of just 27 NCAA Division I programs from across the nation to receive the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.  The Braves join Northwestern as the only two Illinois Division I programs recognized.

The announcement of the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award comes a day after two players – seniors Ka'Darryl Bell and Mike Shaw – were listed on the NABC Honors Court upperclassmen boasting minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA's.  The Bradley duo were two of the five Valley players to qualify for the Honors Court.
