PEORIA, Ill. -- No stranger to the Midwest, Florida native Jon Wong is the newest addition to the Bradley Volleyball coaching staff with first-year Bradley head coach Carol Price-Torok announcing he will join the Braves as an assistant coach.

A 2012 graduate of Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo., Wong comes to The Hilltop after spending the 2015-16 school year as the Director of Operations at Tennessee, where he helped the Volunteers to a  21-12 record last fall.  In addition to handling team travel, Wong served as Tennessee's video coordinator and camp director.

"We are excited to welcome Jon to the Braves family," said Price-Torok.  "He has a very high volleyball IQ combined with his knowledge of scouting and game preparation, which will be instrumental in our success.  He will primarily work with our setters and defense and I know his experiences will be a huge asset to those positions."

Wong was a four-year letterwinner at Lindenwood and the setter/defensive specialist/libero was part of the Lions' 2009 NAIA National Championship in addition to a pair of conference championship squads.  He earned degrees in athletic training and exercise science from Lindenwood, before going on to earn a master's in Sport & Fitness Studies from Florida International in 2014.

While a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Florida International, Wong worked primarily with the football, track and field and volleyball programs.  Following his work at Florida International, he relocated to Tampa, Fla., for the 2014-15 school year, where he was a volunteer assistant coach at South Florida.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Wong has coached at multiple volleyball clubs and academies throughout his career.  Most recently, he worked with USA Volleyball's Collegiate National Team as a technical coordinator during the team's tour of China.  He also coached Team Florida High Performance in the international youth division, with his squad earning a silver in 2015 and winning gold last week in the 2016 event.

Wong, who served as assistant coach with the Florida Wave of the Premier Volleyball League, also coached at the K2 Volleyball Club in Knoxville, Tenn., last year and numerous club teams in his home state of Florida including Tampa Bay One Volleyball Club in Tampa, Fla., and the Rita Crockett Volleyball Academy in Miami.

Bradley Volleyball will hold its first practice of the 2016 season, Tuesday, Aug. 9 and the Braves will open the season Friday, Aug. 26 & 27 at the Pepsi Panther Invitational in Milwaukee, Wis.
