PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley men's golf team was one of 115 NCAA Division I men's golf teams to earn Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Academic honors, according to a recent announcement by the GCAA.
The Braves earned the award for a second consecutive year, after garnering President's Special Recognition and leading the Missouri Valley Conference in grade point average in 2014-15 and followed it up by boasting a team GPA of 3.49 for the recently completed 2015-16 academic year.
One of five Missouri Valley Conference schools to be recognized, Bradley joins Evansville and Missouri State as the only Valley programs to earn the distinction each of the past two years.
Three Braves boasted perfect 4.00 GPA"s during the 2016 Spring semester with another two individuals tallying 3.80 semester GPA's. Seven squad members were named to the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll both semesters in 2015-16.
Bradley finished fifth at the 2015-16 MVC Championship played at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan., to give the Braves four consecutive top-five MVC finishes for the first time since 1984-90. In addition, recent graduate
Lyle Burns (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) and sophomore
Drake Bushong (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) both earned All-MVC honors as the Braves had a pair of All-Valley performers for the first time in 30 years.

Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) were both named First-Team MVC Scholar-Athletes. Jacobs, who also earned the Valley's State Farm Good Neighbor Award, was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, while Burns was named a Golf Coaches Association of America Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar last year.
