PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior men's golfer Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping the Bradley men's golf team win the season-opening Crusader Collegiate last week.

Jacobs opened the 2016-17 season with the lowest 54-hole total of his career (215), tying for second at the Crusader Collegiate.  After a three-over 75 in the first round at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Ind., Jacobs fired a one-under 71 in the second round.  He wrapped up the two-day event with a career-best three-under 69 to finish at 215, one shot behind teammate Ethan Brue (Chandlerville, Ill./AC Central/Illinois Central) for medalist honors.  Jacobs helped the Bradley men's golf team to a 30-shot victory and Bradley's second-lowest 54-hole team score (864) in school history.  A civil engineering major, Jacobs owns a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Jacobs and the Bradley men's golf team return to action Monday and Tuesday at the John Dallio Memorial in Lemont, Ill.
