Men's Golf 9/17/2016 12:00:00 PM
PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley men's golf opened the 2016-17 season with an impressive 30-stroke victory at the Crusader Collegiate in early September and will look to continue its early season success when the Braves return to the course Monday and Tuesday at the John Dallio Memorial in Lemont, Ill.

Three other Missouri Valley Conference rivals (Drake, Loyola and Northern Iowa) join Bradley in the nine-team field, which also includes tournament-host DePaul, IUPUI, Nebraska-Omaha, Oakland and Wisconsin-Green Bay.  BradleyBraves.com will provide links to live scoring via BirdieFire.

Action from the par-72 Ruffled Feathers Golf Course gets underway Monday with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start for the first 36 holes.  Tuesday's final round will feature tee times starting at 7:30 a.m.

While Bradley is no stranger to the John Dallio Memorial, taking part in the event for five consecutive years from 2007 through 2011, none of the current Braves have previously played in the tournament.

In addition to the team title at the season-opening Crusader Collegiate, Bradley had four of the top six individuals in the field paced by newcomer Ethan Brue (Chandlerville, Ill./AC Central/Illinois Central) who was named MVC Golfer of the Week on Sept. 7 after winning medalist honors at the season opener.

Brue opened his Bradley career with a three-under 69 in the opening round and finished the Crusader Collegiate with a two-under three-round total of 214.  Senior Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) was one shot behind Brue in a tie for second at 215, wrapping up the first outing of the year with a career-best 69 as he fired the lowest 54-hole score of his career.

Junior Zach Jewell (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone/Illinois Central) finished three shots back of Brue in a tie for fourth overall at 217 (73-71-73) in his first tournament since last fall after a season-ending injury kept him out of the lineup last spring.

After leading the Braves in seven tournaments as a freshman and placing in Bradley's top two individuals in nine of 12 events last year, sophomore Drake Bushong (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) was fourth on the squad in the season opener despite shooting a two-over 218 for the event.  Bushong turned in rounds of 74, 71 and 73 and has now carded 35 of his 36 career rounds on The Hilltop in the 70's or better.

Following the trip to the Chicago area, the Braves will hit the halfway point of their fall schedule next week (Sept. 26 & 27) at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Ill.
