Women’s Golf Tied For Fifth At Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. – Freshman Taylor Ledwein (New Prague, Minn./New Prague) is fourth in the field and the Bradley women's golf team shot a season-best 296 in the second round to finish Monday's action at the Cardinal Classic tied for fifth.
 
The Braves carded a 304 in the day's opening round and were eighth in the team standings after 18 holes, but used a season-best 296 to finish the day tied with in-state foe Northern Illinois for fifth overall at 600.  The 296 is tied for the 10th lowest round in school history.
 
Ledwein fired a one-over 73 at the par-72 Players Club to start the day and her season-best one-under 71 helped her finish the day at even par 144.  She is fourth in the individual standings, three shots back of Eastern Kentucky's Elisa Moberly for the lead (141). 
 
Junior Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) matched Ledwein in the opening round, with a season-best 73.  A second-round 75 helped Scaccia close Monday's play tied for 12th at 148. 
 
Sophomore Chloe Horton (Coral Gales, Fla./Ransom Everglades) is tied for 29th in at 152, rebounding from a first round 80 to tie a career-best with a second-round 72.  Fellow sophomore Frankie Saban (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) is four back of Horton in a tie for 51st at 156, turning in a pair of 78's. 
 
Sophomore Brooke Thompson (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) rounds out the team scoring for Bradley in a tie for 83rd (167) with rounds of 83 and 84 Monday. 
 
After making her season debut Saturday at the UIC Fall Invitational, junior Abby Wellens (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) is in the field as an individual and is tied with Saban for 51st (156).  Wellens had an 80 in the morning round and matched a career-best with a four-over 76 in the afternoon.
 
Eastern Kentucky has a nine-shot lead on the field and will enter Tuesday's final round at four-over 580.  Toledo and Western Michigan are tied for second at 589, while tournament-host Ball State is fourth (596).  Bradley and Northern Illinois are four shots back in a tie for fifth (600), five shots better than seventh-place Austin Peay.  Northern Kentucky rounds out the top half of the 16-team standings in eighth (606). 
 
The final round of the Cardinal Classic is slated to tee off at 8 a.m. (CDT) Tuesday.
