PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore Drake Bushong (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) looks to defend his individual title and the Bradley men's golf team will try to continue its strong play when the Braves head to Rhodes, Iowa, for the Zach Johnson Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 Harvester Golf Club.

Bushong was the medalist at last year's inaugural Zach Johnson Invite and helped the Braves to a second-place team finish.  He carded a season-best 212 at the Zach Johnson Invitational last October to claim the top spot in the field.  Bushong is coming off his best finish of the young 2016-17 season after tying for fourth at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Ill., earlier this week and has placed in the top three in each outing this season.

The second annual Zach Johnson Invitational field includes Missouri Valley Conference foes Drake and Northern Iowa, while the rest of the nine-team tournament includes Creighton, Eastern Illinois, Indian Hills C.C., North Dakota, North Dakota State and Wisconsin-Green Bay.  BradleyBraves.com will provide links to live scoring via BirdieFire

Bradley has finished in the top three in each of its first three tournaments this fall and was third in the field at the Derek Dolenc Invitational.

Junior Ethan Brue (Chandlerville, Ill./AC Central/Illinois Central) joins Bushong as the only Braves to shoot all nine rounds in the 70's or better this year.  Brue has shot 74 or better in six of nine rounds as a Brave and owns a team-best 71.89 stroke average after he tied for eighth at the Derek Dolenc Invite.

Sophomore transfer Branden Mounce (El Paso, Ill./El Paso-Gridley/Illinois State) is coming off his best performance of his young Bradley career, wrapping up the Derek Dolenc Invite with rounds of 69 and 73 to tie for 12th overall.  After carding an 80 to open the season, Mounce has fired rounds in the 70's or better in each of his last eight rounds.

Senior Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) was in last year's Zach Johnson Invite as an individual and tied for 39th overall.  Jacobs has 48 career sub-80 rounds and needs two more to become the 29th player in program history to card 50 or more rounds in the 70's or better.

Junior Zach Jewell (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone/Illinois Central) was 50th at last year's Zach Johnson Invite and is fourth on the squad this year with a 75.56 stroke average.

The Braves will close out their fall schedule Oct. 9 & 10 at the Northern Intercollegiate in Chicago, Ill.
